Ingredients to Make
1/4 cup Brown sugar
salt
pepper
1 and 1/2 cup cheddar cheese
1/2 cup half n half
1 cup whole milk
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 tablespoon parmesan seasoned bread crumbs
1 cup of elbow macaroni
1/2 stick of unsalted butter
Directions to make it:
Step 1: Preheat oven at 400 degrees.
Step 2 : Cook pasta al dente. Bring 4 quarts of water to a rolling boil, salt to taste. Add a teaspoon of olive oil to boiling water. Add noodles and stir gently. Boil noodles uncovered for 7-10 minutes stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, strain noodles, and add butter. Stir in butter coating pasta well.
Step 3: Prepare noodles in the same pot used for cooking. Add seasoning, salt, pepper, onion powder, stir well for even distribution.
Step 4: Add cheese and mix well for even distribution.
Step 5: Add milk, both half n’ half and whole milk. Then add sugar mix well. The mixture should have a hint of sweetness not overpoweringly sweet.
Step 6: Transfer mixture to baking dish.
Step 7: Bake uncovered for 30-45 minutes. Remove mac and cheese, once it starts to come together and looks golden in color.
Step 8: Add breadcrumbs on top in a even layer.
Step 9: Place the dish back in the oven. Broil for no more than five minutes. Breadcrumbs need to be golden and crisp not burnt.
Step 10: Remove dish from broiler and let it rest for 10 -15 minutes.
Step 11: Serve and enjoy.
