Takeout anyone?
Nope. This delicious homemade recipe will be ready in under thirty minutes. It will feed the whole family at half the cost of takeout, and you have control of the ingredients.
I’ve been trying to add more organic ingredients to our meals recently and we all love a good chinese takeout. However we could do without the excess grease and salt. Am I right?
One of the many reasons why I love cookimg my own meals is because I can control what I put into my meals. I know exactly what all the ingredients are and that makes me extremely happy.
So, when I started craving beef and broccoli this weekend. I immediately thought of this recipe. I’ve had it saved on my pinterest page for awhile but finally decided to make it.
I love all things vegetable, seriously I have yet to find a veg I don’t like. Which means broccoli was not enough, I also added sweet peppers, onions, shredded carrots and a little bok choy.
Can we say yummy?
Instead of cornstarch, I used tapioca flour which if you ask me added just a little more flavor. I also like to add coconut aminos with anything that calls for soy sauce, another yummy kick of flavor. Also with the added benefit of being gluten free for those who are sensitive to gluten.

Directions to make it
Step 1 Add the beef strips to a gallon sized ziploc bag, tapioca flour and salt. Make sure the beef is coated well by shaking the bag.
Step 2 Heat the sesame oil in a large pan or wok over medium heat. Add the beef and stir fry until beef is no longer pink. About 5 minutes on each side. Once fully brown, remove the beef from the pan, place in a bowl and set aside.
Step 3 Add the garlic to still hot pan and cook for approximately 1 minute until oil is infused, do not let it burn. After garlic is infused and aroma is released and water and broccoli. Cook broccoli until it becomes tender and bright green in color.
Step 4 Mix the rest of the tapioca flour, with vegetable broth, soy sauce and coconut aminos in a small dish. Whisk making sure ingredients are incorporated together well. Now add the beef and the mixture back into the pan with the broccoli.
Step 5 Cook the entire dish for an additional 2 to 3 minutes until the sauce reaches the desired thickness.
Step 6 Remove from heat and serve. Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve over steamed rice of your choice (I prefer basmati, but any rice will do).
Step 7 Enjoy!

Tami’s Tips:
For an even quicker cook time, prep vegetables ahead of time. Sprinkle a dash of black pepper to pan right before serving.
